The Tennessee Titans faced the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Oct. 8 in Week 5 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are the highlights from the game.

High hopes were in order for the Tennessee Titans as they entered the 2017 NFL season. After almost winning the AFC South a season ago, they appeared improved and ready to make a statement. However, they were up-and-down through the first four weeks, and then Marcus Mariota suffered a hamstring injury. As such, they were forced to start veteran Matt Cassel as they traveled down south to face the reeling Miami Dolphins.

Not having Mariota obviously puts a cap on what the Titans offense can be. Having said that, they found success time and again last season with the running game, DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry leading the charge. As such, the inclusion of the backup quarterback seemed to indicate that they’d rely on the running game. However, more important than that would be the defense playing much better than they did a week ago against Houston.

Of course, the Dolphins as a whole have recently looked worse than the Titans could ever have nightmares of. Jay Cutler came in with hopes that he’d keep the offense afloat. Now there are already calls to bench him for Matt Moore because he’s been so bad. With a defense that has exploitable holes, it’s not been remotely pretty for Miami as they entered Week 5 at 1-2.

Without Mariota, it would normally be difficult to think that that the Titans would have a chance. Given how the Dolphins played coming into this game, though, it was impossible to rule out Tennessee. As such, it was an interesting matchup, albeit not exactly the most exciting one.
