Browns vs. Texans: Highlights, game tracker and more
By Randy Gurzi
The Cleveland Browns faced the Houston Texans on Sunday, Oct. 15 in Week 6 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are highlights from the game.
Even after drafting three players in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns remained winless entering Week 6. They then would try to get their first notch in the win column against one of the teams they made a deal with in that very draft, the Houston Texans, who had been surging as of late.
With a change at quarterback, the hope was that the Browns would be able to get things going in a more positive direction. And early on, it seemed like that might well be the case. They allowed an opening field goal from the Texans, but also forced a three-and-out. Zane Gonzalez then put a field goal of his own home, tying things up early on. However, the wheels then fell off.
On the next drive, the Texans opened it up and Deshaun Watson found Will Fuller for a deep touchdown pass, going for 39 yards on the play. When the Browns tried to answer, though, things got worse. Kevin Hogan found Jonathan Joseph for an 82-yard touchdown — the issue there being that Joseph plays for Houston. Hogan then threw a pick on the next possession as well.
After trading three-and-outs, Watson and the Texans struck again in the first half with a touchdown pass to Braxton Miller. They ended the half with another interception of Hogan, making it 24-3 at halftime.
It was basically cruise control for Houston from that point on. They earned a safety on an intentional grounding play in the end zone from Hogan, and then added another touchdown with a throw to DeAndre Hopkins. Thus, it was 33-3 at that point.
The Browns took advantage in garbage time, with Jason McCourty earning a pick-six and then Hogan finding tight end Seth DeValve late for a score. However, don’t let the final fool you — this was all Texans all day in Houston.

While they’re not atop the AFC South, it is a pretty weak division, and a win Sunday for the Texans would be huge in keeping them within striking distance. As for Cleveland, they could very well be in play for the first overall pick yet again if they don’t suddenly get it together.
