The Atlanta Falcons faced the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Oct. 15 in NFL Week 6, and here are the highlights from the game.

The Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins met up on Sunday afternoon in a game between two teams looking to get back to the NFL Playoffs by January. While we are still a few months away from the postseason, each game from October to December holds a ton of significance, as the divisional races are beginning to heat up.

Early on, it appeared as if the Falcons were about to jump all over a Dolphins team that has been struggling this season. Matt Ryan led an 11-play drive to open the game, though it only ended in a field goal. However, the defense got a nice stop on the next possession, which put the Atlanta offense back on the field.

Ryan made sure that the team didn’t have to settle for a field goal this time around. Leading a nine-play, 90-yard drive down the field. Once in Miami territory, the 2016 MVP found Marvin Hall deep down the middle of the field for a 40-yard touchdown, pushing them ahead, 10-0. After both teams traded punts, the Falcons forced a turnover on downs. That led to another touchdown, this one from Tevin Coleman after Devonta Freeman set it up with a big run.

When Jay Cutler threw an interception to thwart a promising drive on the next possession, it really looked like it was all coming up Atlanta. However, Matt Bryant was unable to convert going into halftime, leaving the score at 17-0 going into the break.

Whatever Adam Gase told the Dolphins at halftime seemed to work. They came out of the locker room looking rejuvenated, running a 15-play, 75-yard drive that ended with an 11-yard touchdown throw to Kenny Stills. The Miami defense then forced a three-and-out, and the offense converted, this time finding Jarvis Landry for a score.

Miami’s defense came up big once more, forcing a turnover on down on the next drive. That allowed the Dolphins to have a short field to move and tie things up. And again, the visiting team stepped up with a three-and-out forced, which set up a drive for the go-ahead field goal. However, that set up one more drive for the Falcons.

As they did throughout the second half, though, the defense came through. Reshad Jones picked off Ryan and effectively ended the game.

17. 44. 20. 59. Final

If Atlanta can win this football game, they’ll be sitting at (4-1) and in 1st place of the NFC South. While winning their first Super Bowl is goal number one for 2017, winning the division in back-to-back seasons would be one heck of a start – especially when you consider that’s something this franchise has never done.
