The New York Giants faced the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Oct. 15 in Week 6 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are highlights from the game.

It’s Sunday Night Football and the matchup for us all to watch will be the New York Giants going on the road to face the Denver Broncos. The two franchises are headed in different directions completely despite being built the same way — around an imposing defense.

Coming into the game, of course, the Giants were winless and reeling with injuries. Meanwhile, the Broncos were coming off of their bye week in the hopes of getting into the thick of the AFC West race. However, if you watched these two teams play, you’d have never guessed that much.

Denver’s offense looked completely out-of-sync early on in this game. They went three-and-out to start the contest, which New York answered with a field goal on their first drive of the game. Another three-play drive for the home team was then met by a drive of the same for the Giants. When the Broncos looked like they might be getting something going, they missed a field goal.

New York then took advantage of that miscue, going on a 75-yard drive in seven plays as Eli Manning capped it off with a five-yard touchdown pass to rookie tight end Evan Engram. Things only got worse for Denver as Trevor Siemian was picked off by Landon Collins on the next drive. Thankfully for them, their defense stepped up and forced a three-and-out, which set up their best drive to that point that ended in a field goal.

It seemed as if they might be hitting their stride, as they forced another quick three-play drive. But then Siemian was intercepted again, this time by Janoris Jenkins. JackRabbit, however, didn’t go down as he took it back to the house for the pick-six. Siemian then had to leave the game briefly, making way for Brock Osweiler to end the half with nothing of effect.

A trade-off of punts started the second half before the G-Men pushed their lead to 20-3 with another field goal. Denver then missed another kick on their ensuing drive, but the Giants answered with a miss of their own. Instead of building on the momentum, the home team continued to falter as they went for it on fourth down, but Demaryius Thomas was stripped of the ball, the fumble being recovered by New York.

Though the defense stepped up for a three-and-out, the Broncos couldn’t recover as they turned the ball over on downs again, this time in heartbreaking fashion as C.J. Anderson didn’t get the touchdown ruling and the review wasn’t enough to overturn it. They eventually added a touchdown pass to Jeff Heuerman, but the Giants also added a field goal as they pulled out their first win in a stunning upset.
