The Detroit Lions faced off against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Oct. 15 in Week 6 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are highlights from the game.

The Detroit Lions will travel to the Superdome to face off against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. This game could be one of the most exciting games of the week as both teams feature high-powered passing offenses. New Orleans enter Week 6 ranked fourth in the league, averaging 276.5 passing yards per game. Meanwhile, the Detroit offense is scoring almost 25 points per game, which ranks tenth in the league.

After allowing 65 points in their first two games, the Saints defense looked surprisingly good in their next two games as they held the Carolina Panthers to only 13 points and shutout the Miami Dolphins. Coming off of their Week 5 bye, the Saints will certainly be looking to prove that their recent defensive performances are not a fluke against Matthew Stafford and the Lions.

The Saints defense isn’t the only thing that improved over their last two games. After opening the season with three touchdowns and a 65% completion rate in the first two weeks, quarterback Drew Brees has thrown for five touchdowns with a 72.8% completion rate since. Brees will look to continue his recent success against a Lions defense that has given up the fourth-most passing yards in the NFL.

The Lions looked like of the NFC’s best teams before Week 5, as they were 3-1 with their only loss coming due to a controversial overturned touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3. However, the Lions were dominated for much of their home game against the Carolina Panthers last week.

Although they did hold the Panthers to a mere 28 yards rushing, Detroit allowed quarterback Cam Newton to throw for 334 yards and three touchdowns in that game. The Lions found themselves down 27-10 with only minutes left in the Week 5 game. Despite scoring two touchdowns in the final six minutes of the game, they still lost 27-24. The Lions have developed a trend of coming back in the fourth quarter, but last week proved that they need to keep the first three quarters close for that strategy to work.
