Rams vs. Jaguars: Highlights, game tracker and more
The Los Angeles Rams faced the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Oct. 15 in Week 6 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are the highlights from the game.
Entering the 2017 NFL season, not many people would be getting amped up over a matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars. However, their past lack of success hasn’t mattered this season. Both teams enter this game at 3-2 and in prime position to win their respective divisions. As such, this was a huge game on the docket.
Saying that things started furiously between the Rams and Jaguars on Sunday wouldn’t be doing it justice. In one play from scrimmage, both teams put up a touchdown. LA started with a 103-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff from Pharoh Cooper. Then Leonard Fournette answered for the Jags on the first play from scrimmage with a 75-yard touchdown run.
Each team then punted on their next possession, but a bad Jacksonville punt left the Rams with a short, short field. That led to a field goal, but the Jaguars had an answer as they moved quickly. They went 75 yards in only four plays before Chris Ivory took a pass from Blake Bortles and found the end zone.
It was then a three-and-out for each team, but Los Angeles got the ball back and started to work again. Jared Goff and company went 66 yards in seven plays before he found rookie tight end Gerald Everett for a touchdown. A plethora of punts then ensued, but the Rams capitalized on one before the half. With the Jaguars backed up deep, they blocked the punt and recovered it in the end zone. When Jacksonville then missed a field goal, that made it 24-14 in favor of LA at halftime.
The second half was a much different game, however. Both defenses turned up the intensity, and both offenses suffered as a result. It was a field goal for each team that took care of all the scoring in the final two quarters, but it was a 12-play drive that resulted in the Rams score that ultimately iced the game for and moved Los Angeles to 4-2 on the season.
