From the Tennessee Titans win over the Indianapolis Colts to the latest NFL Power Rankings, a look at the top headlines from Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Welcome to Tuesday’s “News and Notes”, a one-stop daily destination providing the latest headlines — with analysis — from around the NFL.

With that, let’s jump into the top stories from Tuesday, Oct. 17:

Titans topple Colts on Monday Night Football

In an AFC South battle, the Tennessee Titans (3-3) defeated the Andrew Luck-less Indianapolis Colts (2-4) in Nashville, 36-22, as Tennessee quarterback Marcus Mariota got hot late to lead the Titans to the win.

Had the Colts pulled off the upset, Indy would have moved into a four-way tie atop the division.  As it stands now, the Colts are in the AFC South’s basement behind the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans and the aforementioned Titans.

Giants cornerback Rodgers-Cromartie returns

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the New York Giants team-imposed suspension of cornerback Dominique-Rodgers Cromartie has been lifted:

Cromartie — a two-time Pro Bowler — had been suspended indefinitely six days ago. Sunday night, the Giants managed to notch their first win of the season on the road against the Denver Broncos and will host the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7 action.

Week 7 NFL Power Rankings

As you might expect, there has been more shifting in this week’s NFL Power Rankings, with teams like the Green Bay Packers moving down and the Los Angeles Rams moving up.

ESPN’s updated list can be found here, while the latest power rankings from NFL Spin Zone’s Dan Parzych can be viewed here.

Jaguars Add New Kicker

In sighting another source, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars are making moves in an effort to enhance their kicking game:

Jason Myers, in his third year with the Jags, missed two of three field goals in a loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6. On the year, he was converting on just 73.3 percent of his tries and had already missed two extra point attempts.

Former San Diego Chargers kicker Josh Lambo, who kicked for the Chargers in 2015 and 2016, has made slightly over 81 percent of career field goal attempts and will likely take the field for Jacksonville as they travel to Indiana to take on the Indianapolis Colts in a Week 7 divisional battle.

Who Is the NFC’s best team with Rodgers out?

With Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers out indefinitely and the Atlanta Falcons sitting at just 3-2 thus far, who is the class of the NFC right now?

A panel of NFL Network analysts debated this, and chose three different teams as the conference’s best club:

New 2018 first round NFL Mock Draft

It’s never too early to look ahead to the next draft, and Cody Williams of NFL Spin Zone has a fresh new 2018 first round mock draft up, as you can read here.

Currently, Williams has the Cleveland Browns taking a running back with the No. 1 overall selection and the San Francisco 49ers taking an intriguing quarterback prospect at No. 2.

Roger Goodell writes the Senate

According to Adam Schefter, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin have written the United States in support of the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act of 2017:

The intersection of sports and politics continues.
