Let’s see which Denver Broncos players made an impact against the New York Giants in Week 6 by analyzing the snap counts.
The New York Giants delivered an upset victory over the Denver Broncos 23-10. This was by far the most disappointing loss of the Broncos season and now they will be on the road for their next three games. Denver desperately needed the win last week to generate positive momentum before entering into the toughest portion of their schedule.
Snap count data provides a clear depiction to a player’s usage during the game. The more snaps they play, the more they’re used in the game. It’s easy to watch film and know that a player is used heavily by the team, but snap count data provides a clear cut finite number showing their usage.
Quarterback
Trevor Siemian, 74 snaps, 91 percent market share
Brock Osweiler, 7 snaps, 9 percent market share
This is the first game of the season where Siemian didn’t play 100 percent of the snaps. The only reason why he didn’t play every single play of this game was because he got hurt during a play and had to come out of the game for a little bit.
Running Back
C.J. Anderson, 38 snaps, 47 percent market share
Jamaal Charles, 20 snaps, 25 percent market share
Devontae Booker, 23 snaps, 28 percent market share
Andy Janovich, 7 snaps, 9 percent market share
Anderson dominated the touches out of the backfield. As a whole, the running backs didn’t receive much usage, mainly because they were playing from behind, causing them to call more passing plays.
Wide Receiver
Bennie Fowler, 61 snaps, 75 percent market share
Demaryius Thomas, 57 snaps, 70 percent market share
Emmanuel Sanders, 50 snaps, 62 percent market share
Jordan Taylor, 32 snaps, 40 percent market share
Isaiah McKenzie, 12 snaps, 15 percent market share
Sanders was carted off during the game with an ankle injury and wasn’t able to return to action. Bennie Fowler stepped in and played some snaps during Sanders’ departure. Thomas left with a leg injury in the fourth quarter but returned to action shortly after. This was the first game of the season where Fowler led the wide receiver unit in snaps.
Tight End
A.J. Derby, 52 snaps, 64 percent market share
Virgil Green, 35 snaps, 43 percent market share
Jeff Heuerman, 17 snaps, 21 percent market share
This was the first time all year that Derby led the tight end group in snaps played. He caught one pass for ten yards. Heuerman received the least amount of work, but was the most productive, catching two passes for 24 yards and one touchdown.
Offensive Line
Ronald Leary, 81 snaps, 100 percent market share
Garett Bolles, 81 snaps, 100 percent market share
Matt Paradis, 81 snaps, 100 percent market share
Allen Barbre, 47 snaps, 58 percent market share
Billy Turner, 46 snaps, 57 percent market share
Max Garcia, 35 snaps, 43 percent market share
Menelik Watson, 35 snaps, 43 percent market share
Leary, Bolles and Paradis led the team in snaps. Watson is dealing with a serious calf injury which shakes things up for the offensive line. It’s going to be interesting to see who the team plays at right tackle going forward. Barbre might be the next man up.
Defensive Line
Derek Wolfe, 43 snaps, 80 percent market share
Domata Peko, 36 snaps, 67 percent market share
Adam Gotsis , 30 snaps, 56 percent market share
Shelby Harris, 21 snaps, 39 percent market share
Ahtyba Rubin, 8 snaps, 15 percent market share
For the fifth straight game, Wolfe led the defensive line in snaps. The Broncos like to rotate their defensive linemen to keep them fresh.
Linebacker
Shaquil Barrett, 52 snaps, 96 percent market share
Von Miller, 50 snaps, 93 percent market share
Todd Davis, 45 snaps, 83 percent market share
Brandon Marshall, 44 snaps, 81 percent market share
Corey Nelson, 10 snaps, 19 percent market share
Demarcus Walker, 4 snaps, 7 percent market share
Kasim Edebali, 2 snaps, 4 percent market share
Barrett, Miller, Davis and Marshall played the majority of the team’s snaps, which makes a lot of sense, since they are the team’s main linebackers.
Cornerback
Aqib Talib, 54 snaps, 100 percent market share
Chris Harris, 54 snaps, 100 percent market share
Bradley Roby, 23 snaps, 43 percent market share
Talib, Harris and Roby are the only cornerbacks that recorded snaps last week. The Broncos don’t like to switch out their cornerbacks, and this is a trend that has lasted since the beginning of the season.

Safety
Justin Simmons, 54 snaps, 100 percent market share
Darian Stewart, 53 snaps, 98 percent market share
William Parks, 10 snaps, 19 percent market share
Simmons and Stewart played the majority of the snaps and Parks played during nickle and dime situations. This should be the status quo for the rest of the season.
