Two teams that dominated the early-to-mid 1990s clash for a vintage NFL rivalry game. The Dallas Cowboys (2-3) head to Santa Clara, California to play against the San Francisco 49ers (0-6). Neither team is having the type of season they envisioned, but can start to build some positive momentum with a win this Sunday.

San Francisco is looking for win No. 1 this season, which would also be the first time they won under new general manager John Lynch and rookie head coach Kyle Shanahan. Both knew when accepting their roles this offseason it would be a rebuilding process, and that’s exactly what they’ve looked like on the field — a team needing some construction.

Dallas came into the season expecting to keep rolling on the heels of a 13-3 year in 2016. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott took over for an injured Tony Romo and never gave the job back. He was aided by fellow rookie Ezekiel Elliott, the running back who led the league in rushing yards.

They haven’t lived up to that expectation as off field issues and a lack of cohesion on field have led to their slow start. Can they get it going against San Francisco, who is starting a rookie quarterback for the first time in his career?
