The New York Jets faced the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Oct. 22 in Week 7 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are the highlights from the game.

The New York Jets walk into this game 26-24-1 all-time on the road against the Miami Dolphins. They also come into this game with two things weighing on them. No matter what they say, there’s no way fight off the feeling that they were robbed against the New Patriots.

Despite defeating the Miami Dolphins in their first matchup, 20-6, there’s something weighing on them from that game as well. The Jets thoroughly dominated that game for 47:45. Then, on the final drive, the Dolphins found the end zone with 0:00 showing on the clock. That ended the shutout, and that would’ve been the second time ever the Jets shutout the Dolphins.

Miami is coming off back-to-back wins. Their last game was of the comeback variety, outscoring Atlanta 20-0 in the second half in Week 6.

Normally, football is about pieces and not individuals. However, this game is about one player, and his success, or lack thereof, will determine the outcome of this game. The Jets will have to stop the Dolphins rushing attack, and force Jay Cutler to throw, to win this game.

This game is going to be a battle of wills. Miami is also all about stopping the run on defense, allowing a pedestrian 80.4 yards per game on the ground in 2017, and New York wants to establish the run. The Jets are 18th in the NFL averaging 105.2 yards per game on the ground. So, it’s not really strength on strength, but a matter of whether or not the Jets can get to the Dolphins.
