2. They’re not ready for the spotlight

Given their loss to Patriots in Week 6, this was a must-win game for the Jets, and they blew it. That means they’re not quite ready for the spotlight.

They have faced a lot of adversity against their last three opponents, and despite the officiating they were in the game against the Patriots and defeated the Jaguars and Browns. They faced adversity again in Week 7, and despite knocking Jay Cutler out of the game, the backup quarterback, Matt Moore, was able to bring the Dolphins all the way back and lead them to victory.

This shows that the young Jets just are a notch below being a playoff team, and that they are not ready for the spotlight, yet. It doesn’t mean they won’t, just that, at this point, they’re not quite there. This team is young, and they will grow, but they need some time to develop and figure out how to win and, frankly, lose as a team.

A game like this can do one of two things. It can haunt them forever, or do something else. It can galvanize the team, and they can use the game to realize their flaws and take the necessary steps to improve week in and week out.
