1. No trust at the end for the Jets

The Jets finally showed a chink in their armor. They have been the epitome of team football this season. It hasn’t been about one payer with this team. Each game that the Jets have won has seen different players step up to fill what the team needed. In order to do that, it requires trust in your teammates.

Well, there’s now an elephant in the room, and it’s a giant stuffed Dumbo doll in the corner. It was a terrible play call by offensive coordinator John Morton, because he should’ve known how the Dolphins were going to attack the Jets. They should’ve gotten into victory formation and taken three knees to go into overtime. However, once the call comes down, Josh McCown also had to do the right thing and not force it into a spot where it can get easily intercepted.

The elephant in the room, though, is why the Jets elected that play and why McCown felt the need to throw the ball, even though he clearly shouldn’t have. Both answers are clear, they didn’t want the game to come down to a flip of a coin.

If they had gone into overtime, it’s a 50/50 shot at winning the coin toss. Instead of giving their defense a chance, if they were to lose the toss, the Jets thought they needed to win it in regulation. McCown felt he needed to be a hero, because the Jets defense allowed the Dolphins to get back into the game. Instead of relying on each other, Morton and McCown allowed the moment to get to them.
