2. Falcons were out-played in all three phases

While this isn’t the most miserable observation of the weekend, it’s definitely one that should be concerning for Falcons fans. We have seen this football team play some bad games over the years, but I cannot recall one performance where the Dirty Birds have been outplayed in all three phases of the game.

More from Atlanta Falcons

Sure, if there’s a team that’s going to do that to Atlanta it’s New England, but at the end of the day, it’s still extremely unacceptable.

For the first time in many years, we saw Matt Bryant look completely defeated after having one of his field goal attempts blocked and the other attempt hit off of the left upright. Not to mention, Andre Roberts is still taking too many kickoffs out of the end zone and ultimately losing Atlanta yardage by doing so.

While it would be refreshing if that was the only unit which failed the team on Sunday night, the offense and defense didn’t put on a great performance either. Sure, we should give the Falcons defense some credit for keeping the game from becoming a true blowout, but they still gave up over 150 yards on the ground to the NFL’s 19th ranked rushing attack. Ouch.

That said, we all have our own frustrations with how this 2017 offense has come together through six weeks. Which is the focus of our most miserable takeaway.
