The Chicago Bears defense harassed the Carolina Panthers as the offense did minimal work to pull off a win. Three takeaways for the victors from Week 7.

Well, that sure was an interesting game, wasn’t it? The Chicago Bears took on the NFC South leading Carolina Panthers at Soldier Field in Week 7 The Panthers dominated the stat sheet in every category but one: turnovers. And that one was the difference in the game.

The Bears offense again was anemic. The unit spent most of the game playing the three-and-out game. The game came down to whether the defense could hold off Cam Newton and the Carolina offense. Thankfully, it did.

The defense performed great. The players brought back memories of the “Monsters of the Midway” defenses of the past. Unfortunately, the offense also brought back memories — those of the 1990s and early 2000s when the defense needed to carry the team almost entirely

However it happened, the Bears have now matched their win total of last season. While some prefer that the team tank for a higher pick, the smarter thing is to see THIS team improve. Then add to it through free agency and whatever picks they have in the draft. We’ve had too many seasons of regression. It’s about time we see some progression. There’s still a long way to go, but we see some improvement, and that’s important.
