Dallas Cowboys: 5 First-round targets in the 2018 NFL Draft at midseason
By Randy Gurzi
1. Mark Andrews, TE — Oklahoma
Despite him playing like a seasoned veteran, Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott is still just in his second season in the NFL. That means he will have some growing pains still, and Dallas needs to make this offense as friendly for him as possible.
To date, Prescott has shown a great knack for attacking the middle of the field. Tight end Jason Witten and slot receiver Cole Beasley have become some of his favorite targets, and adding to that repertoire would be beneficial for Dak — which is also beneficial to the Cowboys.
Perhaps the best option to add in that regard would be Oklahoma tight end Mark Andrews. He’s got great size at 6-5 and 254 pounds, making him an incredibly large target for Prescott. He’s athletic enough to be the top option in an offense, and has great speed for his position and size.

What he doesn’t have is a great body of work as a blocker. Dallas wouldn’t be getting much of an upgrade in this area by adding Andrews, which could be a reason for them to pass. However, he has been compared to Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, a true game-changer at the position. That may change their minds and lead them to deciding they can teach him to be a better blocker when it’s needed.
