Fantasy Football 2017: 10 Deep sleepers for Week 8
By Dan Thomas
Are you a fantasy football owner who’s a little desperate for Week 8? Check out these 10 deep sleepers who could still be available in your league.
With six teams on their bye this week, owners more now than ever need to dig deep on the waiver wire in order to find help. Right now I’m going to share with you my top-10 favorite sleepers for Week 10 but keep an eye out for me on Twitter (@Dan_Thomas28) because I’ll be sharing some other players I like for Week 8.
To be eligible as a “deep sleeper” players have to be less than 50 percent owned in ESPN leagues.
10. Juju Smith-Schuster, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers (26.3 percent owned)
Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant is earning all the media attention but for all the wrong reasons. As a result, he’s shaping up as an inactive for Sunday Night Football. The rookie’s snap count will surely increase and the rookie has two touchdowns over the last four games. He’s a better play in standard leagues than PPR but he worthy of a FLEX spot for all desperate owners.
9. Josh McCown, QB, New York Jets (25.4 percent owned)
McCown is coming off his best fantasy game of the season (24.5 points) but keep in mind it’s his second-consecutive game with 20+ fantasy points. He gets a decent matchup against the Falcons defense and if the Falcons offense can resemble their offense from a season ago, the Jets will forced to play from behind. In that scenario, McCown will be forced to throw, throw and throw some more.
8. Josh Doctson, WR, Washington Redskins (25.8 percent owned)
Free agent signing Terrelle Pryor has not panned out for the Redskins and former first-round pick Josh Doctson has earned more playing time. Over the last two games he has averaged 7.5 PPR points per game. He could/should easily top those numbers in a plus matchup against a young Cowboys secondary.
