Cowboys vs. Redskins: Highlights, game tracker and more
The Dallas Cowboys faced the Washington Redskins on Sunday, Oct. 29 in Week 8 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are highlights of the game.
The Washington Redskins (3-3) mett the Dallas Cowboys (3-3) on Sunday afternoon at FedEx Field to renew one of the league’s better rivalries. Unfortunately, for the Redskins, they had to battle the Cowboys without the services of three starting offensive linemen, which included All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams, Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff and center Spencer Long. Washington is also without top reserve tackle Ty Nsekhe.
Despite the Cowboys being in much better shape in terms of health, it looked like the home-team in Washington would have the advantage in Landover, MD on Sunday. Ezekiel Elliott fumbled on the first drive for the visitors and Washington recovered. However, the Dallas defense stopped them to allow just a field goal. They then got things right and went down the field for a big score.
From there, though, Kirk Cousins and company found a groove. They drove down the field and Rob Kelley found paydirt to make it 10-7. The Redskins then added another three points to pull ahead, 13-7 and seemed to have another unanswered field goal coming. However, a bad snap led to a blocked kick that changed everything. Orlando Scandrick recovered the block for the Cowboys and took off to give Dallas the ball inside the 5-yard line. Elliott scored for a second time to make it 14-3.
That touchdown would spark 19 unanswered points for the Cowboys. However, Washington kept themselves in it by limiting the Dallas offense to field goals — even with Elliott running wild all day long. That seemed to potentially pay off with the Boys up 26-13. Cousins got rolling and found Josh Doctson for a score, which led to a missed two-point conversion and a 26-19 scoreline. However, they held Dallas just after the two-minute warning and had one more chance.
After a screen play took too much time, though, it was the Cowboys defense that had the last laugh. Cousins was hit as he threw, putting a wobbler in the air. Byron Jones ran under it and then kept running for the end zone to seal the big win on the road for Dallas over the short-handed Skins.

This is always a huge game in the NFC East, and Sunday is no different. Both the Redskins and Cowboys are chasing the Eagles, but a win here would keep either in striking distance.
