The Los Angeles Chargers came up short on Sunday afternoon against the New England Patriots. Here are three takeaways from the game.
The Los Angeles Chargers have finally reached their 2017 bye week with a close loss to the New England Patriots in Week 8. There were many people, including myself, that thought the Chargers had a great chance of upsetting the defending Super Bowl champs on Sunday afternoon, but a few mental mistakes cost the Bolts another victory.
It was the typical game for New England, as Tom Brady threw for well over 300 yards in their 21-13 home victory. Los Angeles was able to get some pressure on him throughout the game, but not enough where it started to affect his passing.
At the same time, it was apparent that the Chargers felt the pressure of playing in Gillette Stadium on Sunday. While the Patriots only recorded one sack, quarterback Philip Rivers was little errant on his throws, finishing the game with a 49.7 quarterback rating.
Ultimately, it was another weekend where the Bolts will be flying home, contemplating would could’ve been. They gave the Patriots too many extra opportunities to score, which ended up being the difference in this AFC matchup. That said, take a look at three takeaways for the Chargers in their loss to the Patriots in Week 8.
