1. McCown isn’t the right guy

Jets fans aren’t going to like what they’re about to read here. All summer long the Jets said whoever won the starting job in the summer would be the quarterback that gave them the best chance to win.

According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, despite a 3-5 record, and a clear issue with being able to close games, here’s what Todd Bowles had to say after the game when asked about changing quarterbacks:

"After the game, Todd Bowles was asked if there will come a point where he’ll want to take a look at his young quarterbacks, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg. Said Bowles: “I looked at all of my young quarterbacks in the summer. Josh (McCown) is my quarterback.”"

Bowles is a very stubborn and prideful guy. With that said, there’s no way he can’t see the same things we’re seeing. McCown just can’t close out the game and be the best quarterback to get the Jets wins. We were told that this season isn’t about wins and losses, but about progress moving forward for the young players.

Next: One potential Hall of Fame candidate from each NFL team

There’s no way McCown gives this team the best chance to win, if he can’t finish. The Jets come out flat on offense to start many third quarters, and they’re put into a bind in the fourth to come back when they shouldn’t need to. It’s time for a change, regardless of who won the job in September.
