It’s the end of October and the season has gotten spooky for the Miami Dolphins. The end of the month means another Miami Dolphins mock draft.

For most of the teams in the NFL, we’ve reached the half-way point of the season. With the end of October comes colder weather and a clearer picture of what fans may expect when the weather finally warms up, and it becomes draft season. Team needs are growing more evident with every game, and the Miami Dolphins are certainly no exception. Though we’ve only played seven games on the year, some trends have become apparent. Some of them painfully so.

The offense this season has been a complete trainwreck, and frustrations are starting to boil over. For both fans and the coaching staff alike. Head coach Adam Gase had some strong words about his offense’s preparation, or lack thereof, through the first seven games of the year. What does that mean for the team going forward, and how does that impact what Miami may do during the draft? Your guess is as good as mine. However, anyone who’s paid any attention can clearly see there are a few positions that are in serious need of an upgrade.

The biggest of those is one that has been a thorn in Miami’s side for years, and they’ve continually failed to address it well. The interior of the offensive line has been an absolute travesty through seven games. They can’t pass protect. They can’t run block. Frankly, if I were Ryan Tannehill, I’d be concerned for my safety if the line doesn’t undergo some serious changes between now and the start of next season.

Guard is the biggest need that I see on the Dolphins roster going into the 2018 NFL Draft, but it’s far from the only position that needs addressing. Let’s dive into what the Dolphins could do in April to address those issues and avoid a repeat performance of what we’ve seen this season.

Note: This mock was completed prior to the Jay Ajayi trade. Check back for more coverage as to how that affects the Dolphins draft plans.
