Atlanta Falcons (4-3) at Carolina Panthers (5-3)

No matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to figure out this Carolina Panthers team. Of the eight games they’ve played this season, I’ve picked one correctly (Week 2 against the Bills). So more than likely, whoever I pick to win this one will end up losing.

Sorry in advance to Carolina fans who were hoping to see the Panthers keep pace with the Saints for another week.

Here’s why I’m going with the Panthers in this one. First, the Atlanta Falcons offense hasn’t been the same since Kyle Shanahan’s departure. They barely overcome a New York Jets team that’s been average at best in 2017, and managed only seven points against the league’s worst pass defense the week before.

Second, the Carolina defense has been spectacular in 2017. It’s currently ranked second in the league, and is giving up a measly 17.8 points per game. Even with the Panthers’ offensive struggles, that defensive dominance should be enough to give them a slight edge in Week 9.

Prediction: Panthers win 18-17
