3. Josh McDaniels, New England Patriots, Offensive Coordinator

McDaniels is a popular choice. Before the Bears hired Fox, some wanted him. With the Bears’ struggles, many more clamor for him now. Many thought McDaniels would leave New England after last season’s Super Bowl victory. Teams came calling, but he decided to stay. Win or lose in 2017, teams will call him again. This time, though, he may not be able to resist again.

Of course, some say McDaniels’ success is a result of coaching the great Tom Brady, but he has an extensive history working with quarterbacks. Since 2004, he’s coached quarterbacks. Even as head coach of the Denver Broncos, he worked with the quarterbacks himself. He has a rich experience to share with Trubisky. He can mold the young quarterback and give him the advice he needs to be successful.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick speaks highly of Daniels’ approach to an offense, saying this per ESPN.com:

"“It’s one of the things Josh does a great job of, having some breadth to the offense with different personnel groups and different people and utilizing different combinations so that, if he needs to move from one to another, he can do that pretty easily.”"

At 41, McDaniels is young enough to introduce the Bears’ offense into the 21st century. However, his Super Bowl experience and all the time he spent coaching quarterbacks makes him palatable to ownership. After six seasons in New England, McDaniels could be ready for a chance to make people forget his tense days in Denver. He’s more mature and relaxed and ready to lead a winning team on his own.
