The Denver Broncos dropped their third-straight game to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night and here are three takeaways from that game.

The Denver Broncos’ dropped their fourth game of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs and it appears that their playoff hopes are quickly slipping through their fingers. They have not won a game since October 1st against the Oakland Raiders, since then, after their bye week, they’ve lost three straight games.

The team is currently playing their toughest stretch of games on their schedule with three straight games on the road, followed by a home game against the New England Patriots. Denver needs to figure out to get a win soon, or they will be left behind in the playoff race.

The Chiefs were the first team to put points on the board when Marcus Peters scored on a 45-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the first quarter. A few minutes later, Alex Smith connected with Travis Kelce for a 29-yard touchdown pass, giving the Chiefs a 14-0 lead.

The Broncos answered with a 27-yard field goal by Brandon McManus early in the second quarter. Harrison Butker nailed a 25-yard field goal for the Chiefs giving them a 17-3 lead going into halftime.

A lot happened in the third quarter as the Broncos tried to close the gap. The Chiefs were the first to put points on the board in the second half with another Harrison Butker field goal. Brandon McManus connected on a 34-yard field goal for the Broncos 8:11 left to play in the third quarter. Devontae Booker punched in a six-yard touchdown run to help the Broncos cut into the Chief’s lead, making the score 20-13 going into the fourth quarter.

Kansas City scored on three straight Harrison Butker field goals, giving them nine unanswered points. Trevor Siemian threw a 11-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Derby with 1:55 left in the game. The Broncos’ efforts in the second half wasn’t enough to close the gap on Kansas City’s commanding lead as they lost in horrific fashion 29-19.

This might be the turning point for Denver’s season where we can look back and determine when things officially went off the rails. This loss doesn’t leave much room for error for the rest of their season. The season isn’t a total loss as the team could possibly string together a few wins to get thing back on track to make a run for the playoffs. Here are three takeaways from their most recent loss to the Chiefs to determine where things went wrong.
