Fantasy Football 2017: Start or sit for Week 9
By Dan Thomas
Last Week and Season-Long Record of Start/Sit
Week 8 QB Starts: Tyrod Taylor, Philip Rivers and Andy Dalton – The Red Rifle was a top-three quarterback last week while TyGod finished inside the top-10. Philip Rivers on the other hand? Not so much. Result: 2/3
Week 8 QB Sits: Matthew Stafford and Ben Roethlisberger – Stafford had a good fantasy outing while Big Ben continues to disappoint. Result: 1/2
Week 8 RB Starts: Joe Mixon, Wendell Smallwood and Matt Forte – Mixon only finished with 18 rushing yards but bailed owners out with 91 receiving yards. I’m still not impressed with his actual fantasy production (11.9 points) so I’m going to split the difference and give Matt Forte a thumbs down who finished just below him (11.3 points). Result: 1/3
Week 8 RB Sits: C.J Anderson and Frank Gore – Anderson finished under double-digit fantasy points while Gore set a season-high in rushing yards (of course he did). Result: 1/2
Week 8 WR Starts: Mohamed Sanu and Juju Smith-Schuster – Both players found the end zone and Juju actually finished as the second-best fantasy wide receiver in Week 8. Result: 2/2
Week 8 WR Sits: Kenny Stills and T.Y. Hilton – T.Y. continues to struggle without Andrew Luck and I’m on the fence about Stills who finished as the 24th PPR wide receiver. I’ll go ahead and give myself half credit for Stills. Result – 1.5/2
Week 8 TE Starts: Kyle Rudolph and Tyler Kroft – Rudolph found the end zone while Kroft finished just outside the top-10. Result: 1/2
Week 8 TE Sits: Austin Hooper and O.J. Howard – Hooper scored a touchdown but Howard followed up his big Week 7 performance with a dud. Result: 1/2
Next: Fantasy Football 2017: NFL Trade Deadline Fallout
Week 8 D/ST Starts: Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals – Both the Vikings and Bengals finished with double-digit points. Result: 2/2
Week 8 D/ST Sits: Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears – Both the Broncos and Bears finished with seven fantasy football points or less. Result: 2/2
Week 8 Results = 14.5 / 22 = 66 percent
Season-long results = 97.5 / 176 = 55 percent
