The Dallas Cowboys fended off the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9 and did so by making plays when they needed to the most. Three takeaways for the victors.
Three straight wins by the Dallas Cowboys is a bit of a surprise seeing how the season not only began, but the distraction of the Ezekiel Elliott drama hasn’t helped matters either as his suspension still lingers with no set verdict in sight.
Even with all of that, the offense of the Cowboys is starting to get their swagger back from a year ago with the 28-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at AT&T Stadium in Week 9. The victory keeps them in second place at 5-3 in the NFC East, trailing the first-place Philadelphia Eagles, who are 8-1 overall. What the Cowboys should hang their hat on is the fact their offense is back or at least getting close to being back to where they were last season..
Dak Prescott is a big reason for the success of the Cowboys gearing back up, having two passing touchdowns, one rushing touchdown and passing the ball to five different receivers as he completed 21 passes in the victory.
Overall, the offense of the Cowboys looks better and is playing better, but hopefully the ankle of Dez Bryant heals quickly and the consistency of their play continues to move forward. That said, the consistency of the defense is another story, and it seems to be a mystery as to what any of us will see on a given Sunday.
Any win in the NFL is big, but seeing the Cowboys defeat a team coached by Andy Reid is a bigger accomplishment, and going forward, if the Cowboys continue their run of wins, this could be the game that really began to see this franchise get back on track at the midway point of their season.
Here are three takeaways from the 11-point win over the Chiefs in Week 9.
