2017 NFL Picks, score predictions for Week 10
Los Angeles Chargers (3-5) at Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
I really like this matchup. It pits two quality offenses against two outstanding defenses, which could allow this one to go in a number of ways. We could see a stalemate that ends in a low-scoring nail-biter, or a shootout where the last team to touch the ball wins.
For the sake of this exercise, I’m going with something somewhere in the middle. I don’t think it’ll be a shootout, but it won’t be one of those defensive battles that sees a few field goals and not much else. These two offenses can be too powerful at times to let this one be decided solely by the actions of kickers.
So who gets the edge? The Jacksonville Jaguars do, for a couple of reasons. The first is that Leonard Fournette is back in the mix and will be going up against the Los Angeles Chargers’ second-worst rushing defense. The rookie should have a field day against this susceptible Chargers front seven.
The other reason is that the Jacksonville defense is simply too difficult to take on for a turnover-prone quarterback like Philip Rivers. He’ll make some big throws and toss a couple of touchdowns, but a poor decision in the final minutes will cost the Chargers a chance to get back in the AFC West race.
Prediction: Jaguars win 23-21
