The Chicago Bears surprised some by playing competitively in the first half of 2017. In order to continue that in the second half, these players need to step up.

The Chicago Bears finished the first half with a 3-5 record. Not very good, but considering how bad they’ve been in the past half-decade or so, it’s a good sign. They matched their win total of last season, so any win in the second half and they have a successful season (no playoffs but baby steps).

Seeing a competitive Bears team gives fans hope for the future. They see the return of a dominant defense. Additionally, the presence of rookie Mitchell Trubisky hopefully gives the team a true franchise quarterback, something missing for decades. The Bears had some players step up and play well in the first half. The defense was excellent and just needs to continue to play how it has.

In the second half, however, the team needs offensive players to step up. They need to play well to help the team win. The second-half schedule is much easier than the brutal first half they went through, so if these players play well we’ll see more wins on the horizon.

We all hope for a successful second half for the Chicago Bears. If these players come through, it will be.
