NFL 2017: Which teams are on a bye in Week 10?

PHILADELPHIA, PA - NOVEMBER 05: Quarterback Carson Wentz

We are entering the penultimate week for NFL byes with just four teams are on a bye in Week 10, down from six teams the last two weeks.

Four teams are on bye in Week 10 of the NFL season. The Philadelphia Eagles are the lone NFC team on a bye this week, with the Baltimore Ravens, Oakland Raiders, and Kansas City Chiefs as the AFC teams on bye. Not many of these teams have injury concerns that will be aided by a week of rest this week, but all the teams believe they are still able to make a playoff run.

The Eagles currently have the best record in the NFL and with a Week 11 matchup against division rival Dallas Cowboys looming they will certainly take advantage of a week of rest to prepare for that game. Philadelphia looked absolutely dominant in Week 9, routing the Denver Broncos 51-23 at Lincoln Financial Field. Quarterback Carson Wentz currently has the best odds to win the NFL MVP and the Eagles have the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl, behind the reigning champion New England Patriots.

The Chiefs will certainly be looking to get their season back on track as they have lost three of their last four games after starting the season 5-0. Kansas City currently holds sole possession of the AFC West lead by two games. However, the Raiders currently hold the tiebreaker over the Chiefs after defeating them 31-30 in Week 7.

Oakland got a win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 9, although every win is important for a team that has an incredibly difficult stretch to end the season. The Raiders will desperately need to prepare during their bye as their final seven games feature three more division games, the New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, and Philadelphia Eagles.

It will be interesting to see how the 49ers spend their bye week. It appeared San Francisco would have a new quarterback after trading for Jimmy Garoppolo. However, head coach Kyle Shanahan has suggested that Garoppolo might not play at all this season as he needs time to learn the playbook.

Current quarterback C.J. Beathard is 0-3 after his first three NFL starts and has a completion percentage of just 50.9 percent. The 49ers have two weeks to try to get Garoppolo ready to start for the final stretch of the season but there is a chance they are choosing to tank this season, already 0-9 and out of the playoffs, to get a high pick and have Garoppolo and a potential No. 1 to start the 2018 season.
