1. The Saints name Alvin Kamara their punt returner

Usually, the New Orleans Saints have Alvin Kamara as their kick returner and, so far, he’s been great at it. Unfortunately, they have done poorly with their punt returns. Against Green Bay, Ted Ginn Jr. almost had a lost fumble and then had another incident against Tampa Bay.

Ginn wasn’t the only one who screwed up on special teams. Snead fumbled a punt that led to a Tampa Bay score. Special teams were saved by an explosive play via Justin Hardee but the punt returner position is up for grabs and there are a few candidates for the job. The best one has to be Alvin Kamara.

Even though the Saints are using Kamara for kick returns, there’s no reason why he couldn’t be their punt returner. Tommylee Lewis is the other option, but Lewis has been pretty much non-existent in the offense. Basically, it means the options are limited and the Saints need someone who will be reliable.

There’s where Kamara would come in. The only issue I see is how much bigger Kamara’s role as a running back has become. Last week, he had an especially productive week so the Saints might not want him to add another position for him.

If they do, it would be a win-win for everyone involved. If not, then it will be a challenge to see who the Saints decide to use as their punt returner.
