The Green Bay Packers season rests on the young arm of Brett Hundley. While he’s struggled early on, he’s shown flashes of great potential.
Things have gone downhill for the Green Bay Packers ever since Brett Hundley took over at quarterback. At first glance, his numbers tell a story of an inexperienced quarterback’s struggles hurting a team. While it’s definitely true that Hundley is a downgrade from Aaron Rodgers, and has had his problems, it hasn’t all been bad.
Through three games, Hundley has a thrown for 489 yards while completing 58.8 percent of his passes. He’s thrown just one touchdown compared to four interceptions, but has run for two scores as well.
One major thing the Packers have struggled with since the injury to Rodgers is putting together long drives. Turnovers and quick three-and-outs have become a problem, stalling the offense on too many occasions. Between these disappointing drives have been flashes of brilliance though. There’s a reason Hundley is considered an extremely intriguing franchise quarterback prospect.
He has the legs to escape a collapsing pocket, and can put pressure on a defense. Meanwhile, he has the arm strength to air it out. Maybe that’s why people are expecting more from him. While Hundley is a three-year pro, it needs to be remembered that he threw just 10 regular season passes heading into this year.
So yes, Hundley’s been in the league for a few years now, but he’s never had in-game action. Due to that, he’s still got a lot of learning to do. Those lessons are coming at him fast now though, and on occasion he’s passed them with flying colors. Whether with his arm — or his legs — Hundley has brought some life to a Green Bay offense that has looked dry over the last few weeks.

These flashes of brilliance have come in the form of long scrambles, throws on the run, sustaining drives, or beautiful passes in the pocket.
Sadly, the mistakes have outweighed those great plays. This makes them harder to acknowledge. As the season grows, so will Hundley though. Now the question is whether the brilliance can stop coming in flashes, and stay for a while.
