The Philadelphia Eagles are on their bye in Week 10, so what should you do today without Eagles football?
Once an NFL season, a team gets a week off so that they can rest and the Philadelphia Eagles are currently resting atop of the NFL with their 8-1 record. Some people feel that the Bye Week came at a wrong time for the Eagles since they were red hot and had shown they are the best team in football. However, some time to rest and heal up will be crucial for the Eagles if they are going to make a Super Bowl run.
Before the 2017 season started, not many people would have predicted that the Eagles would currently be the No. 1 team in the NFL heading in Week 10. That all stems from two big factors: their defense and their quarterback.
The defense has been flying around the field and making opposing offenses have fits trying to score points. The unit is led by an elite defensive line, which has controlled and established the line of scrimmage all season.
Yes, their defense has played great, but the most significant factors have been their MVP-level play by quarterback Carson Wentz. The second-year pro is the current front-runner for NFL MVP, and it is because he has been playing at an elite level. Wentz has been a surgeon on third downs and currently leads the NFL with his 23 touchdown passes.
In my opinion, Philadelphia has the best ‘team’ in the NFL. They play together better than any other team in the league, and it is reflected in their 8-1 record. Sadly for fans, they will have to wait until Week 11 to watch this team look for their ninth win of the season. With that in mind, what should you do if you are an Eagles fan and do not have an Eagles game to watch today?
Scout the rest of the NFC
There is no debate that the Eagles are the best team in the NFL, but the Super Bowl isn’t given out in the regular season. If you are still going to watch some football today, make sure you watch and study the other NFC teams to see who is the biggest threat to the Eagles in 2017.
The Seattle Seahawks have already played on Thursday Night Football, and they area significant threat to the Eagles. Although, they did lose their best defensive player Richard Sherman to a torn Achilles in the game. Philly travels across the country to take them on in Week 13.
Another team that is a big threat to the Eagles this season is the Los Angeles Rams. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, quarterback Jared Goff has improved drastically in year two and has led his team to a 6-2 record. Philly and Los Angeles go at it in Week 14.
Other teams near the top of the division are the New Orleans Saints, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Root against the Cowboys
And that brings me to the next thing you should do today, root against the Cowboys when they take on the Atlanta Falcons today in Atlanta. The game is at 4:25 and is a big one for the Eagles as they sit at home and relax. If the Cowboys lose, it takes less pressure off the Eagles in Week 11, when they take on the Cowboys.
Dallas has shown signs of life this season, but if they lose their next two games (to Atlanta and Philadelphia) they will fall to 5-5 and possibly out of the playoffs. If you are a real Eagles fan, you will use this Bye Week to cheer for the Falcons and root against the Eagles biggest threat in the NFC East.
Help out your significant other around the house
Lastly, if you are like me and on Sunday’s you love just to relax and watch football, help out around the house instead. Today, I will see what my fiance needs me to do, and I will help out around the house.
1: It is a nice gesture, and I am sure on Sunday’s you have not helped you significant other out much since the Eagles were on.
2: The Eagles aren’t on, so I mean, it is the perfect time to gain some extra points while helping around the house and not missing an Eagles game.
This should hopefully be the last week of the 2017 NFL season without any Eagles football if you get what I am saying…so, enjoy.
