Washington Redskins: 3 Takeaways vs. Vikings in Week 10
The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Washington Redskins on Sunday. Here are three takeaways from Washington’s disappointing loss.
The Washington Redskins were the talk of the NFL last week after a thrilling 17-14 win at Seattle despite numerous injuries on both sides of the ball. On Sunday, with several injured starters back in the lineup, Washington dropped a disappointing 38-30 contest to the Minnesota Vikings.
The loss drops the Redskins to 4-5 in the muddled NFC playoff race. Washington got off to a fast start, as quarterback Kirk Cousins connected with wide receiver Maurice Harris on a beautiful 36-yard catch to cap off a seven play, 75-yard drive to start the game.
Unfortunately for the Redskins, Minnesota quarterback Case Keenum answered, taking the Vikings down the field on a five play, 75-yard drive to tie the game.
That would be the theme of the game, specifically in the first half. The Redskins would score, the Vikings would answer. Washington was to a 17-14 lead at the three-minute mark, then the Vikings would take the lead as Keenum connected with Adam Thielen on a seven-yard touchdown pass. The Redskins get the ball back and Cousins overthrows wide receiver Jamison Crowder that led to an ugly interception deep in Washington territory.
The Redskins went from leading with under three minutes left in the first half, to trailing by 11 at halftime. The Vikings never looked back.
