New Orleans Saints: Rams present biggest upcoming challenge
With a pretty easy schedule for the rest of the season, the biggest worry for the New Orleans Saints has to be the Rams, who share similar circumstances.
The New Orleans Saints are en route to their eighth-straight win. After a slow start, it’s a nice surprise and one we’ve been hoping for. Even with a relatively easy schedule for the next few weeks, there’s one team the Saints should be worried about and could break their long streak.
Let’s get this out of the way, first. The Saints haven’t had an easy schedule for most of the year and their two losses were against good teams. Their ability to overcome adversity and make plays when necessary has been incredible. That’s why this matchup is so highly anticipated.
In Week 12, the New Orleans Saints and the new Los Angeles Rams will meet in LA. It’s the battle of the two of the best teams in the NFC. The Rams are also sitting at 7-2, losing to the Redskins and the Seahawks. After those two losses, the Rams have been perfect.
It’s eerily similar to what the Saints are dealing with. What makes this matchup all the more exciting is the consequences. If the Saints lose, they might lose their top spot in the NFC South as the Panthers are close behind. If the Rams lose, then the Seahawks will be knocking on their door, too.
No matter what, both teams are bound for the playoffs, but let’s look at the Saints. They started off this season a little hopeless. Their defense put up two poor performances, Adrian Peterson wasn’t doing anything and Drew Brees wasn’t connecting with his receivers.
Then the Saints go up against the Panthers in Week 3 and it all turns around. Since then, the Saints have been practically perfect. They’ve made a few mistakes, but nothing that cost them a game or caused a significant amount of injuries. After such an injury-plagued offseason, it was a blessing.
Most of all, the Saints have proven they’re worth the hype. After three seasons worth of 7-9 records, they’re about to get their eighth-straight win. It’s a humbling experience for the team and one fans have been hoping for.
The matchup against the Rams is pretty even. Both defenses have been playing at a high level, allowing around 18 points a game with 12 interceptions for LA and 10 for New Orleans. On the other side of the ball, it’s even too. With the teams at No. 2 and 3 for total yards of offense, their offenses will be working just as hard.

Stats won’t mean much when the two teams finally face off. It’s going to be a challenge for both, but it’s a test. If the Saints can hang on, then there are easily the team to beat in the NFC. If they don’t, it’s just a small bump in the road and one they can overcome. Personally, I see the game being close, but ending in the Saints favor. Even if the Saints don’t win, it’s going to be a good game.
