The Los Angeles Rams faced the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Nov. 19 in Week 11 of the 2017 NFL season. Here are the highlights from the game.

Just like everyone thought that they would, the Case Keenum-led Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Rams entered Week 11 of the 2017 NFL season with identical 7-2 records. Wait, absolutely nobody predicted that would happen. Yet it was the reality that we were dealt. Who would’ve thought that these two teams would be battling this late in the season for the No. 2 slot in the NFC?

However, things played out in the first half quite dissimilar to what people have seen from these two teams throughout the year. Despite boasting solid defenses, both the Rams and Vikings’ success this season had been predicated on the effort of their offenses. Yet, offense was ultimately at a premium.

Todd Gurley punched in an early touchdown for the Rams after a nice opening drive. However, that would be the only points that Jared Goff and the LA offense would be able to muster — though they did come close. They were driving and got the ball to the 1-yard line before Cooper Kupp was stripped and Minnesota recovered the loose ball.

Also early, the Vikings punched one in with Latavius Murray. However, their offense saw a ton of pressure coming from every angles on most every play. What’s more, they were unable to really sustain many drives or build momentum. Thus, this game went into halftime at 7-7.

It looked throughout the third quarter as if it was going to be more of a defensive struggle. Neither team was able to find the end zone again in the 15-minute period, thus leaving the game still knotted up heading into the final frame. However, that’s where home-field advantage — or talent — took over.

Keenum and the Vikings put together a great drive as they went down the field and Murray was able to punch it in for his second score. Meanwhile, the Minnesota defense came up strong for yet another drive. The Vikes answered again as Keenum found Adam Thielen for a 65-yard catch-and-run that put the home team up, 21-7.

At that point, the game was out of reach and Minnesota added another field goal to pick up a statement win in Week 11.

This was a battle for the second-placed team in the NFC, which could be huge in a tight conference this season. There’s a very good chance that we could see the Vikings and Rams clash once more come January, though, as they appear primed for playoff runs.
