2. Wide receivers need to be playmakers

Elliott is one of the most unique and dangerous playmakers in the NFL, and the reality is that they are never going to get that kind of impact form their running game. It is vitally important that they still establish a running game, and control the line of scrimmage. That being said, it is now clear that the wide receivers needs to be the ones to step up the impact their having.

Against the Eagles, we saw multiple drops, with no massive play that could have helped keep the Cowboys alive for longer in the game. The red zone is going to be a completely different place without Elliott, but they have a receiving corps that should be able to help Prescott make sure that they are finding more ways to get into the end zone.

Some of this can fall on the play-calling also. The Cowboys need to make sure they are getting these wide receivers with the ball in their hands in space, without expecting Prescott to make a perfect throw to get their every time.

There is a lot of reliability with Jason Witten and Cole Beasley, but they need their deep threats to make plays down the field. Both Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams know that they can make the plays to take is to the house, but nobody came close to that against the Eagles. The Cowboys need to make sure that these wide receivers are getting the opportunities they need to have the impact, and the success of this offense could often come down to how many plays they are able to make.
