1. Turnovers are the only hope for the defense

At the beginning of the year, the Cowboys were looking like they could have a capable defense. Then Sean Lee went down and they have been a disaster. Things could have been a lot worse if the Chargers didn’t hit rock bottom with their kicking, because the Cowboys could not stop anything they wanted to do.

It is now clear that good offenses will be able to drive at will on the defense, and that means their only chance of being a positive is getting turnovers. The problem is that it feels like there are at least two or three missed opportunities at getting turnovers each game.

The defensive line has not been dominating like the start of the season, and everyone is taking turns dropping interceptions. If the Cowboys do not start generating turnovers, then there defense will continue to get killed. With the current state of the offense, that alone spells a loss for this team.

Next: 1 Thing each team should be thankful for

The Cowboys need to find more ways to make plays, and the defense has been doing nothing. If they can get some of those turnovers, and shorten the field then maybe the offense could get some momentum going. Unfortunately, the defense is being left on the field a lot longer with the offense being unable to sustain drives, and nobody is stepping up and making the kind of plays that could turn a game.
