New York Jets: Top 3 free agents to re-sign in 2018
The New York Jets are looking at key free agents to sign, but they also must think about re-signing their own to keep moving forward toward a playoff berth.
There’s one word that seems to get a lot of attention this time of the year in the NFL, and the New York Jets will have to be mindful of it once their offseason begins. Usually the word continuity is reserved for the coaching staff and front office staff. It’s rarely used to describe roster turnover, because there’s so much of that in the NFL.
The Patriots notwithstanding, because they’re an outlier, generally the good teams keep many of their own free agents. The Jets will enter the 2018 offseason with 16 of their players potentially heading toward free agency.
Todd Bowles is trying to establish a culture in New York. In order to maintain that culture, he must keep certain guys around that are good for the culture on and off the field. Say what you will about the potential free agents and draftees that could be donning the green and white next season. The first order of business is keeping certain guys in-house.
