3. Jarvis Landry gets his first 100-yard game

One of the more polarizing wide receivers in the NFL is the Dolphins Jarvis Landry, even within their own fan base. For some, Landry is an incredible slot receiver who makes the Dolphins offense tick. He brings a level of passion and desire that is unmatched. And he has stats that stand up with some of the best who have ever played the game. For others, Landry is an athletically-limited wide receiver. Some would argue his stats are a reflection of the Dolphins force-feeding him the ball. They would also point to his lack of touchdown production to say he’s an average wide receiver at best.

No matter where you fall on the Landry spectrum, last week against the Buccaneers was proof positive that the Dolphins offense is better when Landry is on his game. Landry had arguably his best game of the season last week, hauling in six receptions for just shy of 100 yards and one touchdown. That touchdown was Landry’s sixth of the year, setting a new career high, and his 15.8 yard average was by far his best of the season.

One game isn’t going to be enough to silence Landry’s detractors, but Landry would be the first to tell you he couldn’t care less about that. What he cares about is that, despite his performance, the team lost. If the team has any chance of walking away with a win against Tom Brady and the Patriots, Landry needs a duplicate performance. Head coach Adam Gase wants the wide receivers to be a bigger part of the offense, and Landry is a big part of that. Look for Landry to have his first 100-yard game of the season and to come down with a touchdown for the fourth straight game.
