1. Leonard Williams

It’s probably not fair to include the former USC All-American on this list because he has dealt with an injury to his left wrist since the third preseason game. Overall Williams has had a disappointing season to date. So far. However, there are excellent signs moving forward that Williams is starting to perform like the player that made the Pro Bowl in his second NFL season in 2016.

After going without a sack for the first eight contests, the Bakersfield, CA native has recorded 1.5 sacks in his last two games and has been much better against the run as well. Williams has started to get his power back and that can spell doom for the opposition.

Williams is beginning to feel like his old self again as he explained to nj.com:

"“I’m feeling really good physically. At the beginning of the season, I don’t want to use excuses, but I could see on film that my wrist was definitely affecting me. I was playing with a cast, and I see that I wasn’t really shooting my hand as effectively as I could have. These last few games, on film, it just looks completely different. I’ve been able to shed people. I’ve been able to use my hands, get off blocks, and just be more effective.”"

The 6-5, 298-pounder still has a chance to top his career-high in sacks (7) if he continues to stay healthy. Williams has compiled 36 tackles so he’ll need to step it up to reach last year’s career best (68) mark. Don’t count against him. All arrows are pointing up. He is becoming a disruptive force on the defensive line again. Opponents have to worry about him penetrating the A Gap once more. After a very disappointing start, it appears like the Jets may have the Leonard Williams of 2016 moving forward.
