With recent reports emerging that the Dallas Cowboys players are growing frustrated with the coaching, Jason Garrett may not be able to keep his job
Anyone watching the Dallas Cowboys over the past three weeks knows something is wrong. Ever since they lost star running back Ezekiel Elliott to his six-game suspension, they’ve been outscored 92-22 and have lost all three games in embarrassing fashion.
Following their most recent debacle of a game, owner Jerry Jones came out and offered some support for head coach Jason Garrett. Jones alluded to Garrett recently winning the NFL Coach of the Year award and the fact that they went 13-3 last season. The problem is, this season things have completely fallen off and Garrett is beginning to show that he simply can’t adjust during the season or in games.
Despite knowing all season he could lose Elliott to a domestic violence suspension, Garrett and his staff looked like they had no idea how to replace him. While the running game is still performing well, no one is selling on the play actions that used to be so deadly. Without them, Garrett and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan haven’t been able to scheme any yardage.

Defensively the issues are just as bad. Their scheme run by defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli is painfully simple and honestly, just bad. They leave players wide open, have their blitzes read easily and create hardly any turnovers.
Still, Jones defends his coaches. That may not be too easy following the latest reports from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who said that the players are growing frustrated with the coaches.

Fans have to be breathing a heavy sigh of relief as finally there are whispers that some in the organization are seeing the problem. While they’ve been screaming all season about the lack of changes to the game plans, Garrett has continued to preach consistency. He even recently said that big changes weren’t coming. Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram has the quote where he said they will look to do better, but won’t change much.
"“Certainly we’re always looking at ourselves and things that we can do better, but our convictions as a coaching staff, or as a football team, really won’t change,”"
Will Jones’ hand be tied?
Even though Garrett claims there won’t be changes, he started making some after the latest round of anger was outpoured by fans — and reportedly players. Garrett will apparently look at changing out the safety spot and corner Anthony Brown is set to be benched.
Sadly, it took them too long to change in those areas — much like when they allowed Atlanta defensive end Adrian Clayborn to get five sacks on left tackle Chaz Green before benching him. Garrett and his staff’s failure to make changes may force the hand of Jones as the coach may be losing his team if Rapoport’s reports are true.

Throughout his tenure, the one huge positive for Garrett was how hard his team fought for him. They seemed to believe in his philosophy and rarely were embarrassed. This season that’s changed and if Garrett has indeed lost his team, there’s no way he can keep his job, no matter how much Jones wants to see him succeed.
