Kansas City Chiefs (6-5) at New York Jets (4-7)

I think it’s time to officially throw in the towel on the Kansas City Chiefs. I know they still technically lead the AFC West right now, but that may not last much longer considering the freefall they’re currently stuck in.

I credit this prediction solely to the Chiefs’ miserable play as of late. I also want to mention the fact that the New York Jets have looked better than their 4-7 record would suggest. I mean, they nearly upset the Carolina Panthers last weekend and have had a number of near wins this year against quality teams.

Much of that success can be attributed to their outstanding defense, which has done a terrific job of keeping the Jets in games this season. Josh McCown, Robby Anderson and the New York passing game have also exceeded expectations, but can crumble at times.

In this one, though, I expect they’ll make just enough plays to secure the win. That drops the Chiefs down yet another peg, officially making them the 2016 Vikings of the 2017 campaign. I don’t see the Jets making their way into the playoff race, but it’s a solid moral victory.

Prediction: Jets win 17-16
