Round 5: Sam Beal, DB, Western Michigan

Here lies one of the most-underrated players in the 2018 NFL Draft, which is going to be a great thing for the Chargers. Sam Beal comes into the league after playing three years for the Western Michigan Broncos. Not to mention, he was a big part of the 2016 team that went all the way to the Cotton Bowl against Wisconsin.

More from Los Angeles Chargers

According to the school’s official athletics website, Beal is having himself a very nice year in 2017 as well. Take a look below:

  • 3 tackles-for-loss
  • 1 forced fumble
  • 2 interceptions
  • 10 passes-defended

Sure, there is always some concern when scouting a player coming from a school like Western Michigan, but Beal actually performed his best this season when facing USC and Michigan State.

Regardless of wherever someone goes to school, we need to see that they are high-level competitors who can shake off mistakes and come back stronger for the next play. Needless to say, Beal looks to be that guy.
