Whenever fans think about the great rivalries in the NFL, the one existing between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins has to come to mind. Two storied franchises in the vaunted NFC East have a ton of history between them. And on Thursday Night Football in Week 13 of the 2017 NFL season, that rivalry will be renewed in a highly intriguing game.
Both the Cowboys and Redskins sit at 5-6 on the year entering this game, and both limp into the contest — though for different reasons. Dallas is coming off of three-straight losses, all coming with Ezekiel Elliott out due to his suspension. That has left Dak Prescott to fend for himself, and things have gotten ugly out there. However, they have enough talent even without Elliott to flip the switch, though that could start with Demarcus Lawrence and the defense.
As for the Redskins, it’s the injury bug that hurts them. Jordan Reed is out again, while the entire offensive line is seemingly questionable to play. That puts Kirk Cousins, already playing without one of this favorite weapons in Chris Thompson, in a tough spot. He’ll have to come up big with his arm if he wants to lead the way to victory.
