2. Devontae Booker Runs Wild

With just five games left on the Broncos’ schedule, the team is going to give some of their younger prospects more opportunity to play to see what exactly they have when it comes to talent before entering the offseason.

Devontae Booker is going to be one of the prospects on the roster who is going to benefit from the extra playing time the most in the next few weeks. The coaching staff is going to take an extended look at him and how he plays to determine if they need to invest at the running back position for the 2018 season. Booker has averaged 8.67 touches per game in his last three games. Expect that number to slowly increase as the season continues.

The Broncos drafted Booker in the fourth round in the 2016 NFL Draft. He was hyper productive at the University of Utah, rushing for 2,773 yards and 21 touchdowns during his two year collegiate career. He’s a very talented prospect, but injuries have pushed back his development, causing him to not be able to take over as the team’s lead back.

He might not be the team’s running back for the future, but is very talented at catching passes out of the backfield. Booker can most definitely be utilized as a pass catching specialist in certain situations. The 2018 draft class is stacked with running back talent and there’s a good chance the team’s future star running back could come from next year’s draft. If anything, Booker could a nice complementary piece in a committee for the Broncos

I see him getting more touches in this game compared to what he’s been receiving in previous weeks. I wouldn’t be surprised if he toted the rock 15 times or more this weekend. The coaching staff knows what they have in C.J. Anderson and Jamaal Charles, but they need to further assess Booker’s playmaking ability before they making any moves in the offseason. With that being said, he will get the opportunity to rush for a considerable amount of yardage against a week defense and be used heavily in the passing game.

Bold Prediction: Devontae Booker gains over 100 total yards and scores at least one touchdown
