Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Jets

It’s Week 12, and the New York Jets welcome the Kansas City Chiefs to town to renew an old American Football league rivalry. Ho-hum. It’s a battle of who’s reeling the worst. The New York Jets are 4-7, and barely holding on to a glimmer of hope for the playoffs, and the Kansas City Chiefs come in barely clinging to the AFC West lead which most thought they’d have a stranglehold on.

The Jets can’t get out of their own way. The reason their losing games is because of dumb penalties and costly turnovers at the most inopportune times.

For the Chiefs, Alex Smith has reverted to being, well, Alex Smith. He’s not reliable as the weather gets colder, and, against the Giants, he proved he can’t compete in New Jersey in the wind. The Chiefs running game has also sputtered.

This game will come down to the little things. As Luis Tirado, Jr. of The Jet Press reported, Todd Bowles said this:

"Correct the little things. We fight and do the right things for three quarters. Then for about one quarter in about five minutes, we let the game get out of hand. We do all of the right things the right way. We were down in penalties initially before going into the fourth quarter. We were down in mental errors in the fourth quarter and for some reason, we lost our composure at times for a brief moment and that’s all it takes to lose a ball game."

The problem is neither of the teams are doing the little things right to win football games at the moment.

Prediction

If you like defense and little scoring, this game is for you. Both teams will have turnovers, and punts, lots of punts. In fact, history will be made in this game that neither team wants to be a part of. Since the inception of overtime, there have been 22 ties, and prior to that, there were 256 ties, including a record 17 ties is the 1920 season (the inaugural NFL season). The 256 ties include 75 in which neither team score a single point, but that hasn’t happened since Nov. 7, 1943. This is the game that breaks that streak.

Score prediction: Kansas City Chiefs: 0, New York Jets: 0
