The Green Bay Packers have had quarterback issues this season. Despite that, receiver Davante Adams has put up great numbers, and this can’t be overlooked.

In the Green Bay Packers game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, wide receiverDavante Adams recorded 82 yards and a touchdown on five catches. He led Green Bay in both receiving yards and receptions in the game. That’s the fifth time this season he led the Packers in both categories for a single game.

In fact, Adams is putting up top-tier numbers for a receiver – not just on the Packers, but in the league. The 24-year-old has 55 receptions for 702 yards and seven touchdowns on the season. Those stats would be great even if Aaron Rodgers was the quarterback all season. Instead, Adams has had the up-and-down unproven arm of Brett Hundley.

Due to this, there hasn’t been consistent quarterback play over the last few weeks. This has led to the Packers offense looking completely lost. When an offense looks lost, they might start to depend on a single player. In those instances, it’s easy for a defense to lock on to that player and bury him.

Adams has, on multiple occasions, been that out. He’s been relied on heavily to get the offense back on track. Instead of being buried though, he’s shone. Heading into the season, Adams was thought to have a fantastic group of talent around him. Jordy Nelson is a proven monster, while Randall Cobb can be up-and-down but is always dangerous. Then there was Martellus Bennett, who was supposed to clean up the tight end position.

Instead, Cobb has continued his inconsistencies heavily. Meanwhile, Nelson hasn’t looked the same without Rodgers (although teams should definitely still fear him). Finally, Bennett’s not even on the roster at this point.

In a contract year, with other players struggling around him, Davante Adams has proven his value. He’s on-pace for a career-high in both receptions and yards (it would be the third-straight season in-which both statistics saw a bump). That type of growth will earn him a massive contract, and every Packers fan should hope it’s with Green Bay.
