PHILADELPHIA, PA - NOVEMBER 05: Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery

Alshon Jeffery will now be a major part of the Philadelphia Eagles’ future moving forward.

Alshon Jeffery has been one off the most dependable receivers for the Philadelphia Eagles this season. Now, he is getting rewarded for it. According to multiple media reports, the Eagles and Jeffery agreed to a four-year, $52 million contract on Saturday, one that includes $27 million in guaranteed money.

“First of all I just want to thank Jeffrey Lurie and the entire Eagles organization,” Jeffery said. “Like I said the other day, I love it here. I’m blessed to have the opportunity to play for this organization and for these fans. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms and now I’m looking forward to being here for a long time. We have a great group here and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Jeffery has been a tremendous asset to the Eagles’ passing attack. He has caught 43 passes for 689 yards and seven touchdown. This season has been a rebirth of sorts for him, as he is on track to put up his best numbers since 2014.

For his career, he has caught 347 passes for 5,168 yards and 34 touchdowns. In 2014, he caught 85 passes for 1,133 yards and 10 touchdowns. For his efforts, he was selected to the Pro Bowl.

This falls in line with what the Eagles organization has been trying to do as of late, recognizing that they have something special brewing in the City of Brotherly Love. They have also given out extensions to right tackle Lane Johnson, tight end Zach Ertz and defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.

This contract makes complete sense for Philadelphia. Jeffery has added an entirely new dimension to the offense, one that includes spreading the field and big-play potential. The Eagles had not had a wideout that could do that in quite some time. At age 27, he is entering the prime of his career. Assuming quarterback Carson Wentz can continue to perform at a high level, Jeffery could be in for some productive campaigns in the future.
