After another embarrassing loss, Chicago Bears head coach John Fox spoke on his job security, and his explanation was as bad as his coaching.

Another week, another embarrassment for the Chicago Bears. Their loss to the San Francisco 49ers didn’t just drop their record to 3-9. The loss also officially eliminated the Bears from the playoff chase. Additionally, it gave head coach John Fox the worst winning percentage in team history.

The Bears are a sinking ship. Things look bleak in terms of finding another win. They have road games against the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Cincinnati Bengals. Their last home game is against the Cleveland Browns. None of those games are sure wins, including the Browns game. The Bears may finish with back-to-back 3-13 seasons when it’s all said and done.

This doesn’t bode well for Fox. Many feel he is a lame duck coach. Surely the Bears won’t keep him, right?

On Monday, during his weekly show on WBBM News Radio, he sort of dismissed the news of the fans clamoring for his firing.

"I think that comes with the position. We all understand that. It’s what we signed up for."

Later on Monday, however, things were a little different. He spoke about finishing off the season and whether he knows something one way or the other. His attempt to explain this is as bad as his attempt to explain whether a Kevin White injury will shut him down for the rest of the season or why Dion Sims missed a game. It’s so convoluted:

First, he feels the talk is just that. Then he says he feels he doesn’t know anything. It’s like thinking Tarik Cohen‘s usage is just fine.

At any rate, the time for the Chicago Bears to part ways with John Fox is upon us. The longer the McCaskeys wait to pull the trigger, the more embarrassing the situation becomes. Also, it prevents the Bears to get a jump on the competition on finding the right replacement, thus making the search more difficult.
