New York Jets: 3 Players with rising stock heading into Week 14
1. Josh McCown
Be honest. You didn’t think the 38-year old signal-caller would be this good, right? Neither did I. McCown has had a few hiccups along the way but for the most part this has been a magical campaign for the 15-year NFL veteran. That magic continued last Sunday against the Chiefs when the Jacksonville, TX native threw for 331 yards and a touchdown. He chipped in with a pair of short rushing scores in New York’s thrilling 38-31 victory over the Chiefs.
McCown has posted a career-high 18 touchdown passes this season with eight interceptions. He’s also thrown for a career-best 2,880 yards and owns a completion percentage of 67.8, his best mark since he started playing in the league way back in 2002. That ranks McCown as the fourth most accurate passer in the NFL this season (Drew Brees leads with a 71.5 percent completion rate). Not bad for a “journeyman” quarterback.
As impressive as McCown has been on the gridiron, what is just as impressive is his leadership abilities. He seems to have total command of the huddle. His intelligence and experience shines through when he audibles to another play at the line of scrimmage. McCown is a tremendous competitor with a high motor and that intensity feeds on to his teammates.

Don’t be surprised to see the Jets bring him back in some capacity next year. Possibly as their starter. That’s how good he’s been this season.
