While quarterback is important, the New York Jets have a lot of holes to fill, and 2018 isn’t all about the quarterback position.

Free agency in 2018 will be what defines the New York Jets moving forward, not the 2018 NFL Draft. The NFL Draft is important for building, but so is free agency. No matter what you say about the draft, as we have learned from the Green Bay Packers, teams can’t win by using the draft as the only tool. They must use free agency as well.

Even Woody Johnson, who, according to Ethan Greenberg of NewYorkJets.com, said their philosophy was to build through the draft, knows that fee agency is important:

"We’ll use the draft primarily and we’ll use free agency judiciously, trading and the rest of it. But mostly through the draft."

Building through the draft is great. The Jets need to add free agents in order to eventually become Super Bowl contenders — period.

The 2018 NFL free agency class is decent, but not particularly deep at any position. That said, there is some quality at positions of need for the Jets, namely nose tackle, running back, wide receiver and quarterback.

If they can land two to three players, it will help their draft. Let’s take a look at the top potential free agents the Jets should target, if they hit the market.
